Sewage was still overflowing into Msida's Valley Road yesterday even though the local council had reported the nuisance numerous times to the Water Services Corporation.

Msida mayor Clifton Grima said the last report was made on Saturday but the WSC had not yet done anything about it.

Mr Grima urged the WSC to carry out repairs to the drainage infrastructure so the situation could be rectified as soon as possible.

When contacted, WSC public relations officer Stephen Zerafa said the corporation was aware of the problem and pumps in Valley Road which had been blocked were recently repaired.

"Unfortunately, due to the amount of water that flows through the valley after heavy rainfall, the drainage system cannot cope and that's when people see manhole covers out of place and water overflowing onto the street."
