The June 7, 1919 bread riots were today remembered  in Xaghra, where one of the victims, Giuseppe Bajada, lived.

Mass, at the Xaghra basilica, was followed by a reenactment of the events by the Xaghra Historical Organisation.

The commemoration was brought to an end with wreath laying ceremony at the foot of the monument near the house where Mr Bajada lived, in Bullara Street.
