Sete Gibernau has confirmed that he will race in Sunday's Portuguese Grand Prix despite injuring his shoulder in last weekend's season-opener at Jerez.

"I don't think I will be 100 per cent for the race, and this bothers me, but I will definitely be in Estoril this weekend," the Catalan told sports daily Marca yesterday.

"I feel really motivated for the next grand prix and am totally focused on recovering as best I can in the next three days to continue the good form that I have started with."

The Honda rider had led his home race until the penultimate lap when world champion Valentino Rossi overtook.

The pair raced wheel-to-wheel until the final corner when Rossi forced his way through on the inside and Gibernau hit his Yamaha broadside.

Gibernau, who has finished second behind Rossi in the championship for the last two years, ended up in the gravel before returning to the track and finishing second.

The clash between the riders damaged a tendon in his left shoulder, which has already been operated on twice.
