Confidential work contracts, police conduct records and government correspondence are among the sensitive documents abandoned at the former MedServ offices on Manoel Island.

Amid used condoms, syringes and empty spray cans littering the hallways of the abandoned complex are dozens of files marked “confidential” and “for internal use only”.

The young people who call the area their own regularly break into the complex, sneaking through a number of holes in the mesh fences cordoning off the site.

When Times of Malta went on site accompanied by a local who frequents the area, it was clear that the youths were not the only visitors. In fact, during the two-hour tour, one could come across two fashion photo shoots, a group of people setting up a BBQ and another group of locals exploring the buildings.

MedServ executive director Anthony Duncan said yesterday he was surprised to hear of the abandoned documents, which included the dates of birth, identity and passport numbers, photographs and addresses of dozens of former employees. He said he would be informing the company and looking into why documents belonging to it had been left behind when it moved.
