Senglea retained the regatta shield today, winning the traditional Victory Day regatta in Grand Harbour for the 22st time.

Cospicua placed second and Marsa third.

Senglea won three of the five races for a total of 76 points to Coospicua's 48 and Marsa on 28.

Competing for the coveted shield were seven harbour towns whose rowers crossed from Marsa to Customs House in a tradition that dates back to 1642. It became an annual event in 1878.

The event attracted strong interest with many lining the bastions to cheer the rowers.

Category B was won by Marsa, with Cospicua placing second and Senglea third.

The regatta was organised by the Malta Sports Council.
