Senglea Athletic 3
St Patrick 0

Lowly Senglea stunned St Patrick yesterday as they romped to 3-0 win in a match the side from Cottonera dominated from start to finish.

Senglea's first victory of the season brought to an end St Patrick's eight-match unbeaten run since the start of the 2008-09 Division One League.

The first-half dismissal of Roderick Briffa was a blow for St Patrick but still, this was no excuse for their poor display yesterday as Winston Muscat's side never recovered after conceding their opponents' first goal.

After 15 minutes Senglea, still without a coach after they parted with Jimmy Briffa, took the lead when Ibrahim Tarek powered his way through before chipping the ball over goalkeeper David Cassar.

On 34 minutes, a Simon Zerafa drive from outside the Senglea box was tipped away for a corner by George Attard. On another occasion, a Peter Anizoba drive hit the side-netting.

St Patrick were playing the better football now but their momentum was disrupted when Briffa was sent off for dissent five minutes from half-time.

Senglea doubled their lead on 55 minutes to kill off St Patrick.

Receiving a through pass from Stefano Zampa, Justin Felice buried the ball home from 11 metres out despite being chased by two St Patrick defenders.

On 62 minutes, Anizoba tried his luck with a rasping shot from just inside the area but Attard did well to save his fort.

Tarek, Senglea's best player yesterday, sealed the issue 13 minutes from time when slotting the ball home from close range following a Leeroy Bonett centre.
