Bayla Bah was apprehended at the airport after officials realized that the valid passport he had tried to pass as his own in fact belonged to someone else.

Prosecuting officer Victor Aquilina told Magistrate Josette Demicoli that the accused had told him that he had "found" the document and decided to use it as his own.

The sitting was protracted due to the fact that the accused did not have a good grasp of the English language and an interpreter was summoned.

The court condemned him to one year imprisonment, suspended for two years.

Legal aid lawyer Victor Bugeja assisted the accused.
