A full-day seminar to market the Malta jurisdiction for online gaming, 'MiGs 09', will be held at the Le Meridien Hotel in St Julian's, on October 8.

A first of its kind, the seminar will outline the advantages of moving to Malta from an operations and a fiscal point of view, not to mention the lifestyle and human aspect of relocating staff to Malta.

The organisers are a combination of service providers to the industry, including Megabyte Ltd, a systems integration and IT solutions company, CSB Group, which provides corporate, trustee and licensing services, Vacancycentre.com, a recruitment and human resources company, Green Tube, a software company, BMIT, a co-location and hosting firm, and the real estate company Re/Max Malta.

The seminar will be addressed by Malta Enterprise chairman Alan Camilleri, Expekt.com chief executive officer Per Widerstrom, Lotteries and Gaming Authority chairman Nick Xuereb, and Unibet chairman George Debrincat.

One of the main topics throughout this seminar will be the improvements on the application process to obtain a gaming licence in Malta. This will be tackled during one of the forums, one of which will be on the fiscal set-up of the industry, while the other will be based on operations and the stages involved in setting up operations in Malta.

There will also be several workshops and networking opportunities.

"Malta has come a long way and has streamlined all operations in an effort to be more efficient and professional," Mega-byte Ltd business development manager David Galea said.

"The government has done an excellent job in creating the infrastructure and transforming Malta into one of the most respected legislations in the world. It is now up to companies interested in investing here to seek local expertise to guide them through the various stages involved in setting up shop in Malta."
