The future of telecommunications will be discussed during a half-day seminar at the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) in Villa Bighi, Kalkara on Tuesday April 3.

The event is being organised by Createch and sponsored by the MCST Forlink Project.

The main speaker at the event will be Dr Roberto Saracco, a director at the Future Centre of Telecom Italia in Venice.

His presentation will discuss technology trajectories and their impact on the telecommunication sector.

His presentation will deal with broadband/bandwidth, communication, data capture, human interfacing, information visual displaying and information retrieval/processing/storage.

"The future of telecommunications will depend on a variety of factors such as social and economic issues, regulatory overview and technology evolution.

"It is nearly impossible to forecast what the sector will be like in 10-20 years. However, it is useful to try and understand from the technological evolution point of view what forces will come to play," the organisers said.
