Prof. Lino Sant is delivering a seminar on 'Quantile processes in ROC estimation' on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Mathematics and Physics building, room 606 organised by the Department of Statistics and Operations Research.

Quantiles have proved themselves over and over again to be very versatile and productive statistical constructs within wide areas of applied and pure research. As mathematical objects, their structure is sufficiently rich to supply various techniques which have in turn been used to extract many interesting and useful results.

In this talk Prof. Sant will concentrate on a problem related to the estimation of the ROC curve, a statistical technique that is frequently used in practically all fields of research that use sophisticated statistical techniques.
