The educational practices that promote social cohesion or that may lead to exclusion will be the subject of a seminar to be held this month as part of Project Included.

The project analyses educational strategies that contribute to overcome inequalities and promote social cohesion, and educational strategies that generate social exclusion, particularly focusing on vulnerable and marginalised groups.

The seminar, to be held on February 27, aims to share with key stakeholders the results of the first year of research within Project 6 of Included. The objective of Project 6 is to study communities involved in learning projects that have developed the integration of social and educational interventions that contribute to reduce inequalities and marginalisation, and to foster social inclusion and empowerment. Local research involved studying how one particular school worked through local and professional organisations to include parents in the educational process and help students to improve.

Included is an EU FP6 (European Community Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration) funded project.

The seminar, free of charge, will be held on February 27 at the Malta Council of Science and Technology, Bighi.

Anyone interested in registering can do so, by February 20, by contacting maria.brown@um.edu.mt.
