The first meeting of the Select Committee set up to make recommendations to Parliament on the setting up of a Commissioner’s Office and a permanent committee on standards, ethics and correct behaviour in public life met for the first time today.

Speaker Anglu Farrugia presided the meeting.

The committee expressed a desire to listen to civil society and members agreed on a process of public consultation.

It is inviting contributions from the public by e-mail at selectcommittee@parlament.mt or by mail, which should be addressed to the Clerk of the House, Parliament, Valletta, VLT1115. These should be made by November 15.

Later, the committee intends to hold a sitting to listen to groups and organisations that would wish to explain their ideas.
