The fifth edition of Seħer il-Punent, a festival of arts, crafts, culture, history and music was held over last weekend.

The programme, organised by Għarb council, opened with the traditional dinner organised by Tal-Qiegħa Folk Foundation at Għarb’s main square. Entertainment was provided by Tal-Qiegħa Folk Group and Spiru Sillato Band.

Saturday’s evening included performances by the Għaqda Dilettanti tal-Karnival and a tug of war competition between Maltese and Italian groups.

The cast of the popular TV comedy Deċeduti also made an appearance, followed by a concert by Freddie Portelli.

Activities on Sunday included a traditional Maltese wedding, followed by an exhibition and tasting of food products. Entertainment was provided by the Aurora Folk Group. A special attraction was the cooking of the largest ġbejna (cheeselet) ever made in Malta and the tasting of last year’s 35-kilo ġbejna.

Other activities included a get-together of motorcyclists, a dancing marathon and a concert, Back to the Oldies, by Mark Spiteri Lucas band with the participation of various singers, includingJ. Anvil, Eleanor Cassar, Ludwig Galea, and Fabrizio andClaudia Faniello.

The evening closed with a performance by Malta Song Festival winner Glen Vella.
