A number of security companies are offering bids of security service at a per hour rate that is lower than the cost of retaining a full-time employee with all ancillary benefits per hour, the General Workers’ Union said.

The union appeals to the government to inspect all security contracts that might be providing hubs for precarious employment.

Companies that accepted work below the cost per hour of engaging a full-time employee adopted precarious work practices and the government should not award contracts to any companies caught engaging in such practices.
