Malta maintained their winning start in the UEFA Women's Friendly Mini-Tournament (Group D4) with a 1-0 victory over Luxembourg at the Centenary Stadium yesterday.

Their confidence sky-high after a 4-0 rout of Latvia in the opening match, the Maltese girls created the better scoring chances in the first half but could not find a way past the Luxembourg defence.

Pierre Brincat's girls had to wait until 15 minutes from the end to score what proved to be the winner.

The Maltese team were awarded a penalty after Ylenia Carabott was tripped in the box and Dorianne Theuma made no mistake from the spot.

Malta wrap up their commitments with a match against Bulgaria on Wednesday (kick-off 5.30 p.m.).
