The Malta Information Technology Agency has launched a second call for applications for the Second Step Training Programme which offers a choice from three free ICT national diplomas.

The first call launched last summer received a larger than expected turnout of 375 applicants.

MITA’s chief officer of the Human Capital Department Peter Xuereb said that following the positive feedback received through the first call, it was sensible to introduce a second to accommodate as many interested people as possible.

The decision was in line with MITA’s vision of investing in human capital and developing further opportunities for people to fulfil their potential.

Applicants are able to choose from three ICT National Diplomas in Information Systems; Information Technology; or Computing and Information Systems.

They can choose whether they want to study full-time or part-time. The two-year course is to start in March.

Successful participants will be awarded a BTEC National Diploma in their chosen area. This is a Level 4 EQF/MQF certification that is fully recognised by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre.

Applications are to be filed only online and a registration form is available at www.mita.gov.mt. Training will be provided by the same training provider in Mosta which is currently coordinating the Second Step Training Programme.

The closing date is January 28.
