Alfred Farrugia, who was stabbed in the groin allegedly by his partner on Friday-Saturday night was himself arraigned today and accused of trying to seriously injure Carmen Meilak, slightly injuring her, harassing and threatening her, relapsing and breaching bail.
The incident happened in Racecourse Street, Marsa.
Meilak was arraigned and accused of the stabbing yesterday. She was granted bail.
Farrugia limped and had to be assisted as he was taken to court this morning.
Inspector Sarah Magri said both sides appeared to have caused the incident.
She objected to bail, saying the accused was also being accused of breaching bail in another case. Furthermore, he could speak to witnesses in the same road where he lives. He also had convictions for stabbing in the past.
Magistrate Anthony Vella granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and personal guarantee of €5,000. The court issued a protection order for the victim and her family.
