The Minister of Home Affairs and National Security has appointed a second AFM Complaints Board to consider claims of discrimination by the AFM.

The AFM said the second board will investigate:

Cases of alleged injustices which were brought to the notice of first AFM Complaints Board but were not considered, since such complaints were received after the closing date;

Cases of alleged injustices which date back to seven years;

Cases of alleged injustices which go back prior to the seven years period  but carried consequences during the last seven years.

Cases of alleged injustices upheld by the Office of the Ombudsman or the Tribunal for the Investigation of Injustices but never rectified.

On February 4, the minister, Manuel Mallia, had announced that the first board ad upheld 60 percent of the 213 complaints it received. Its remit went back five years.

Complainants should obtain a form from the AFM Administration and Personnel Branch. This should then be delivered by hand to Capt. Jesmond Brincat, Staff Officer 3 Personnel (tel no. 22494034/4022), who will be acting as liaison officer to the AFM Complaints Board.

The form should be handed in before March 21. Late submissions will not be accepted.
