Scrabble champion David Delicata maintained his winning trend when he won two tournaments held recently by the Scrabblers Club.

The main summer tournament attracted a field of 33 players. In the semi-finals, veteran Peter Elbourne met Delicata in a repeat of last year's final with the latter emerging victorious after being one game down. In the other semi-final, the upcoming Kevin Abela eliminated Paul Mifsud.

The final, between two of the club's youngest members, saw Delicata winning 2-1. Elbourne was third. The section winners were Jojo Delia, Nicholas Vella Laurenti and Mario Saliba. Maria Scicluna had the highest non bingo and Abela the highest bingos. Laura Borg was the Plate Tournament winner.

Sixteen players figured in another summer tournament. Delicata was again the top player, followed by Vella Laurenti, Mifsud and Anne Marie Holland.
