No fewer than seven scouts representing different European clubs and an Italian football agent were at the Ullevi Stadium yesterday to run the rule over Andrè Schembri and Andrei Agius.

The scouts had agreed to fly to Sweden to watch the two Malta internationals on the recommendation of Carly Barnes, the agent of striker Michael Mifsud and goalkeeper Justin Haber. Barnes was also present for last night's qualifier in Gothenburg.

An Italian agent also accepted the invitation of a Maltese contact to travel to Sweden and have a closer look at defender Agius who last season played for Igea Virtus in Italy's Serie C2 league.

Schembri turned out for German lower league team Carl Zeiss Jena last season, scoring crucial goals in the process.
