Children attending Xagħra primary school, together with their teachers, recently took part in a programme of activities on the occasion of Arbor Day.

The activity was marked by the planting of trees in the school garden by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and four Year VI students, while other students planted seedlings of native trees.

The Eco-Gozo and Regional Development Directorate distributed calendars to all students in primary, secondary and post-secondary schools.

The calendars, which can be used as bookmarks, put across aneducational message, teaching children to restort to good environmental practices and to give importance to the eco-Gozo vision.

The children were joined by officials from the education sectorin Gozo, including those responsible for hands-on-farming andeco-school initiatives.
