St Theresa College's Girls' Junior Lyceum in Mrieħel is organising the 19th edition of the Charity Fun Run on November 19 and over 900 students from the school are currently dedicating their free time to collect funds for this year's two-kilometre run. Last year, €10,000 were collected through the run and the students are hoping that Maltese generosity will help them to exceed it next month.

Niġri biex ngħin is once again this year's slogan.

The donations collected will go to Caritas (Malta), Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Multiple Sclerosis Society and the St Theresa College Girls' School Benevolent Fund.

Caritas concentrates much of its efforts on drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation and prevention.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is gathering funds to find a cure for this disease, the symptoms of which often appear during childhood, while the Multiple Sclerosis Society is seeking professional assistance to help sufferers.

"Through this charity school activity our students become aware of people in need and how to help them by reaching out to the community," said Victor Camilleri, a teacher at the school and organiser of the run. Mr Camilleri is being assisted by other teachers from the school, and members from Pembroke Athleta athletic section will be co-ordinating the run.

The Fun Run will start at 12.30 p.m. from the Mrieħel school and pass San Anton Gardens before returning back to the school premises.

Other schools are invited to participate both in the Fun Run and other activities including exhibitions, dance, art, song and gymnastics display.

The public may also offer donations directly at any HSBC branch in Malta and Gozo in the Charity Fun Run Fund account no. 0160 7949 3001. For further information visit the Fun Run website www.exorgroup.com/funrun or call the school on 2149 2166.
