Border controls will be temporarily re-introduced for the Valletta and Commonwealth summits, the government confirmed yesterday.

The measure will come into force at midnight on Monday through to Friday and again from November 21 to 29.

This newspaper reported on Wednesday that the EU Schengen Agreement would be suspended as security measures are stepped up.

All passengers at the airport and seaport will have to present identification documents.

The government noted that the measure was in line with the Schengen provisions. Enquiries can be made on 2369 6416 or 21222941.
