A reindeer was all set for Christmas yesterday after undergoing life-saving keyhole surgery in what is thought to be a world first.

Edinburgh Zoo vet Romain Pizzi removed a testicle from the abdomen of reindeer Eskimo using pioneering techniques.

It had been lodged in the animal's abdomen since birth and the zoo feared it may have been developing into a potentially life-threatening tumour.
