Labour leader Alfred Sant insisted in a TV interview this morning that whoever was not disciplined, accountable and transparent had no place in a Labour government.

Dr Sant in his interview insisted that the proposals being made by the MLP party during the election campaign were more realistic than those of the PN.Among the proposals are a halving of the power surcharge and an annual 15 percent reduction of hospital waiting lists.

Dr Sant said the reduction of the surcharge by half would mean families would have more money in their pockets and hence more money to spend, something which would benefit businesses. At the same time a Labour government would work on a programme of investment in alternative energy sources, he said.

He also reiterated his promise for a more effective market surveillance mechanism to discourage price abuse.
