The verdict by jurors who had found that Anthony Schembri was of sound mind when he allegedly fatally stabbed his estranged wife in her hospital bed in September 2005, was quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal presided over by Chief Justice Vincent De Gaetano, Mr Justice David Scicluna and Mr Justice Joseph R Micallef. The verdict was quashed and not declared null and the court was not solely presided over by the Chief Justice as was erroneously reported in Saturday's issue of The Times. The error is regretted.
