World 400 metres silver medallist Nicola Sanders has been named track and field athlete of the year by the British Olympic Association (BOA).

Sanders, who came second in Osaka behind fellow Briton Christine Ohuruogu, also picked up a bronze medal in the 4x400 relay and won the European indoor 400m title.

Ohuruogu won her appeal last week against a BOA Olympics ban after she had served a one-year suspension for missing three out-of-competition doping tests.

She returned to competition just before the World Championships to win gold.
