Planning authority proposals for the sanctioning of illegalities that took place over the last years were defeatist, environmental NGO Nature Trust said in a statement.

It said that through its proposals, the authority was admitting it was unable to enforce any planning regulations.

Such proposals were an insult to all law abiding citizens and imparted the message that one should break the law as a pardon or sanction would eventually be given.

It called on the authorities to stand up for what they have been set up to do and enforce.

It appealed to the government not to accept the authority's proposals but find out why it (the authority) was failing the country.
