A number of large rocks that had been ‘stolen’ from San Blas Bay in Gozo were found by the police this afternoon in a field nearby.

The 29 boulders had been removed from the scenic bay in the middle of August after a clean-up operation by the Gozo Ministry. They were found today during a search by the Gozo Criminal Investigation Department, the police said.

The owner of the kiosk at San Blas had been expected to be charged with illegally removing the rocks.

The police are currently on the site where the rocks have been found.

An inquiry is being held.
