Hundreds of people on Sunday walked through the doors of the newly-restored staterooms at San Anton Palace, which were opened to the public for the first time.

The project, which saw the restoration of seven staterooms, was completed in April.

The rooms were unveiled by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

During a day-long event, dubbed Festa Palazz (Palace Feast) yesterday, visitors had the opportunity to visit the restored rooms as well as the Mikiel Anton Vassalli Suite that is used to host heads of state visiting the country.

Visitors were also treated to enactments by actors who donned period costumes representing the different rooms’ history while the President’s car, as well as that used during visits by heads of state, were also on display.

The Armed Forces of Malta band put up a show to mark the event, with the proceeds going to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
