A same sex couple has applied to adopt a child, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli revealed in Parliament. 

Replying to a parliamentary question by Godfrey Farrugia (PL) she said 61 couples entered into a civil union since the relevant legislation was enacted. Fifty-six couples entered into a civil union in Malta and five in Gozo.

Ten couples registered in Malta a civil union made abroad.

Twelve same sex couples who were married abroad had their status registered in Malta.

Thirty-six changed the gender on their birth registration following the enactment of the Gender Identity Act.
