Residents of Salina have protested that the alternative route they have been offered to their homes while Coast Road works are carried out is dangerous and inadequate.

"The road is a narrow one lane untarmaked road which will now be taking two-way traffic, with no pavements for pedestrians, nothing. Our access to a bus stop on the coast will now be closed and we have been informed that we will have to walk for at least 15 minutes in this narrow lane to get to the first stop," one resident said.

"School transport for the kids will not be using that lane so our children have to use this lane on foot to get to their transport."

The residents have also filed a court injunction to stop the government and Transport Malta from removing ramps leading to the residential area from the Coast Road during the road widening works.
