The Salesian Brigade celebrated its centenary yesterday with the planting of a pine tree and the unveiling of a plinth at Independence Gardens in Sliema. The brigade, made up of children and youths, was established by the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1910. It introduces young people to the faith and the life of the Church and teaches them drill and musical instruments, as well as striving to instil a sense of discipline by organising camps and voluntary work, among other activities.
