Movistar won the 1,450 mile third leg of the Volvo Ocean Race from Melbourne to Wellington by just nine seconds after a thrilling duel with ABN Amro One yesterday. Dutch yacht ABN Amro One, which won the first two legs of the race, just failed to overhaul Movistar, skippered by Dutchman Bouwe Bekking, in the closing stages.

"I know it was only nine seconds, but a win is a win. It was very sweet," Bekking told the race's website. Pirates of the Caribbean finished third.
