The Malta Union of Teachers has directing teachers at the Sacred Heart Junior School to ignore a meeting called by the school's Board of Governors.

The meeting is due to be held tomorrow morning.

The union is in dispute with the school over what it said was interference by the board which, had led a succession of heads of school to leave. The MUT said the teachers should continue with their lessons as usual.

The union said the situation at the school was "very reminiscent of the situation prevailing in the 1980s".
