Low-cost airline Ryanair has denied using a baggage damage waiver despite passengers being asked to sign the declaration before flying to Malta from London Stansted last weekend.

An airline spokeswoman said it processes baggage claims in full accordance with the Montreal Convention and was proud to have a baggage damage rate 24 times less than the European average.

The spokeswoman was replying to questions sent by Times of Malta after passengers flying to Malta with Ryanair over the weekend were asked to sign a declaration absolving the airline of responsibility for any damaged luggage.
