Low cost airline Ryanair has announced new routes to Malta, including services to London Stansted (four times a week), Oslo (twice a week), Turin (twice a week), Bournemouth (twice a week), Malmo in Sweden (twice a week), Kaunas in Lithuania (twice a week) and Wroclaw in Poland (twice a week).

The new routes will start operating from May 2012.

The new routes were announced by chief operating officer Michael Cawley, who hailed the success of current Ryanair services to Malta.

He said that Ryanair will thus operate 28 routes to Malta. He said they expected to attract a million passengers to Malta within a year.

A seat sale of €9.99 has been announced. Bookings have to be made by Thursday January 12 at midnight.

The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association and the GRTU both welcomed the new services.
