Russia's ambassador to NATO said today that genocide was taking place in Georgia's breakaway region South Ossetia.

"What we have in South Ossetia can only be called ethnic cleansing and genocide," Dmitry Rogozin told reporters in Brussels.

Georgia called for a ceasefire today after Russian bombers widened an offensive to force back Georgian troops seeking control over the breakaway region of South Ossetia.
