Busy Rudolph Street in Sliema was closed for a short while this afternoon  because of a suspicious bag found in the street.

However the street was reopened and the alarm was called off after a police sergeant inspected the bag and decided it was safe, before AFM explosives experts arrived on the scene.

The bag was found close to Sliema Police Station, which was damaged by a bomb placed on a window sill in December 1985 when three policemen and a girl were injured.
