The ex-president of the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses, Rudolph Cini, has been elected vice-president of the International Council of Nurses (ICN).
ICN is a professional organisation representing nurses from 133 countries. A congress is held every four years to elect a committee made up of 15 nurses.
This is Mr Cini's second term within the committee; for the past four years he occupied the position of member.
The election took place in South Africa on July 3, where it was announced that Mr Cini would be vice-president of ICN for the next four years. ICN will be organising a conference in Malta in 2011 which over 3,000 nurses from different countries are expected to attend.
