The Retail Price Index went down to 108.51 in June from 108.61 in May, the National Statistics Office said.

It said in a statement that this primarily reflected a decrease of 0.67 per cent in the water, electricity, gas and fuels index, mainly due to lower gas prices.

Lower airfares and fuel prices brought about a decrease of 0.57 per cent in the transport and communication index.

Seasonally higher prices of garments brought about an increase of 0.93 per cent in the clothing and footwear index.

The 12-month moving average rate of inflation stood at 2.26 per cent, whereas
the annual rate stood at 1.58 per cent.
