The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index in April was 0.84 per cent, up from 0.82 per cent in March.
The 12-month moving average rate for the month decreased to 1.13 per cent, from 1.18 per cent in the previous month.
The largest upward impact mainly reflected higher prices of restaurant services, including take-away and cafeterias. The largest downward impact was attributed to lower prices of garments.
The Food Index registered an overall annual inflation rate of 1.67 per cent, of which food, excluding restaurant services and take-away, registered an annual rate of 1.47 per cent, while restaurant services and take-away registered an annual rate of 2.19 per cent.
