A Royal Navy frigate will today call at Grand Harbour for four days before continuing to the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa.
HMS Cumberland has longstanding connections with the island, having already visited three times since she was commissioned. She will stop for supplies and to carry out maintenance.
Captain David Dutton said he was looking forward to visiting the country, whose long established links with the Royal Navy were vital throughout history.
He said he was delighted that he had the opportunity to renew those ties.
The frigate will not be open to the public.
