Nathan Lee Xuereb was given a rousing welcome by the Malta shooting fraternity on his return to the islands after he won the gold medal in the European Junior Championships held in Hungary last weekend.

On Sunday, Xuereb survived a tense semi-final shoot-off to progress to the gold medal final where he beat English shooter James Dedman 26-22.

It was the second successive success for the 17-year-old shooter who had also won the continental junior title in Suhl, Germany, last year.

uereb and his coach Jimmy Bugeja were greeted at the Malta International Airport by Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Chris Agius, MOC Director of Sport Mario Micallef and Malta Shooting Sport Federation PRO Edwin Vella.
