Tarxien Rainbows grabbed an injury time equaliser to hold Championship Pool hopefuls Mosta to a 2-2 draw at the Tedesco Stadium.

Mosta took the lead after only seven minutes. Armando Dos Santos Tarlaziz’s quickly taken free-kick picked Rodriguez Ekani inside the area and the Mosta midfielder quickly squared the ball towards the unmarked Giamarco Piccione who beat Curmi from routine distance.

Mosta remained the better team but for all their possession they failed to add a second goal.

Instead it was Tarxien who grabbed the equaliser three minutes into the second half. Ronaille was brought down in the area by Ekani and from the resultant penalty Ronaille blasted the ball past Borg.

Gradually Mosta seized the initiative and they regained their lead on 75 minutes.

Manolito Micallef’s throughball released Piccione who beat the offside trap and lobbed the ball over the onrushing Curmi.

But it was Tarxien who had the final say as in stoppage time they were awarded a free-kick and Carlo Mamo’s curling drive came off the upright but Ronaille was first on the rebound to head the ball into an empty net.

Mosta striker Gianmarco Piccione was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
