The police have arrested a woman, said to be Romanian, who allegedly defrauded a number of shops.

The woman was arrested at Gzira seafront yesterday evening.

A picture of the woman, carrying a baby, had been circulating on social networks. The woman was recognised by a man in a Gzira shop, who called the police. The woman had just made a purchase using a €200 banknote and was claiming she was given the wrong change.

The police called on anyone who came into contact with this woman to call Sliema poice station on telephone 2294 3351/ 2431 or 21224001. 

The woman is to be arraigned in the coming days.
