AS Roma will not ask for Thursday's Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Catania to be brought forward a day despite fears it could ruin their chances of snatching the league title.

Holders Roma, 1-0 up from the first leg, had been due to play on Wednesday but the match in Sicily was switched to the following day to suit television.

Inter , who lead Roma by three points in the title race, visit Lazio in the other semi-final second leg on Wednesday.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti told reporters he did not think there was enough time to have the second leg moved back to its original date.

"I think it is too late," he said. "In any case, we don't want to create confusion."

Inter host Siena and Roma entertain Atalanta on Sunday in the penultimate league fixtures of the season. Both contenders are expected to rotate their squads for the Cup games with the title race taking precedence, although Spalletti said after Sunday's 3-0 win at Sampdoria he expected Inter to seal the title on Sunday.

Inter, who lost 2-1 to AC Milan on Sunday, would retain the title with a win against Siena. A better head-to-head record over Roma means they would prevail if the pair finished level on points.

Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not expected to return until the weekend because of a nagging knee problem.

Catania will also have one eye on the league in Thursday's Cup tie. A 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Reggina on Sunday dragged them back into the relegation equation. Lazio, who drew 0-0 at Inter in the first leg last month, will be fully concentrated on the Cup having recently rested players in the league to prepare for the match.

Lifting the trophy in the final in Rome on May 24 would offer a UEFA Cup place for Delio Rossi's mid-table side.
