Roderick Muscat (Pamsons Cartorama Cycling Club) is undergoing a training camp in Ireland to fine-tune his preparations for the Junior World Championships in Canada.

The Maltese cyclist recently took part in the M. Donnelly Junior Tour 2003 in Waterford. This six-day event, comprising six stages, was held between August 6 and 11 with cyclists covering a total distance of 550 kilometres.

Eighty-eight cyclists from eight countries were on the start line with Muscat (picture), the only Maltese rider in the competition, finishing a creditable eighth overall.

In a statement, the Malta Cycling Federation expressed its satisfaction at the encouraging performances of Muscat, Malta's brightest cycling prospect, who has been showing great form in domestic and international competitions.

Muscat's trip to Ireland was only possible through assistance from various sponsors including James Camilleri & Sons, Discus Ltd, Orion Ltd, A. Vella & N. Vassallo and Kia Motors among others.
