Rod Stewart was given a warm welcome by a small crowd of fans when he arrived in Malta this afternoon on his first visit.

The veteran singer was presented with flowers and signed autographs and said he never expected such a welcome.

He is expected to sing his sell-out classic rock hits like Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Tonight's the Night, Sailing, and Downtown Train during a concert on the granaries tomorrow evening. Selections from his recently released 'Soulbook', which he has described as the album he had waited his whole lifetime to record, will also feature.

Ira Losco and her band will be the supporting act.
