Rockestra is being held again this year in aid of the Community Chest Fund at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre on September 3.

Addressing a news conference this morning, President and Mrs George Abela launched the festival during which Joe Cocker's song "With a little help from my friends", the message of which is linked to all those who help the CCF, will be interpreted.

Parliamentary Secretary for Culture Mario De Marco said it was an honour for the national orchestra to take part in the festival.

He thanked the Good Causes Fund which is again financially supporting the concert, together with Bank of Valletta, HSBC, Banif, Go, Vodafone and the Tumas Group.

President Abela said that Rockestra also provided a platform for new local talent which was given the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd of around 10,000 people.

Sigmund Mifsud, who once again is in charge of the musical arrangements and conducting the orchestra said the festival was a gift to Maltese society.

The audience had fund and became part of the festival.

Singers, from the classical, rock and pop fields, will interpret works by Led Zepplin, Guns n Roses, Pink Floyd, U2, Kansas and Mettalica, among others.

Tickets can be obtained online.
